SCP Auctions out of California has an autographed, game-used Johnny Manziel jersey they hope to sell for as much as 100-thousand dollars when it goes up for bid online next week. The auction house says the former Texas A&M quarterback wore the jersey during six home games in 2012, the year he won the Heisman Trophy.
The number 2, Adidas medium size, Texas A&M maroon home jersey, was worn in just six home games. That's the season the Aggies went 11 and 2. Don Imler with SCP Auctions couldn't say where the company got the jersey from, but says it's authenticity has been established through a process called photo-matching. He says there are visible repairs and areas of soiling on the shirt that are clearly identifiable in game photographs.
In the 30 years SCP Auctions has been in business, Imler says they haven't seen any memorabilia generate this type of interest a week before it goes on the auction block. "We think the timing is right. We think with training camp underway and him competing for starting position, everyone is interested in Johnny Football, so the climate is right to bring this jersey to auction."
The auction will open up on August the 6th and go until August 23rd. It will be done online similar to how Ebay performs their auctions, so you have to register in advance.
