Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel met with the NCAA on Sunday and denied allegations he took money for signing autographs,'s Bruce Feldman reports, citing sources close to the Heisman Trophy winner.

Feldman confirmed that NCAA investigators met with Manziel on Sunday for about 5 1/2 hours, first reported by ESPN. According to the source, much of the NCAA's inquiry with Manziel Sunday was focused on the quarterback's financial records and the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback told the NCAA that did not accept money from memorabilia brokers for autographs.

Even with these revelations, don't expect his coach or teammates to comment on his playing status this week.

The Aggies kick off the 2013 season on Saturday against Rice.

Texas A&M has their regular media availability on Tuesday. The school announced at the beginning of the week that Manziel would not be one of the players speakers to the media, and that both the coaches and players have been instructed to avoid the topic of Manziel's status for Saturday.

"The focus of our coaches and student athletes is solely on preparing for Rice this Saturday, and in the best interests of Texas A&M and the 100-plus student-athletes on the team, I have instructed Coach Sumlin, his staff and our student-athletes to refrain from commenting on or answering questions regarding the status of our starting quarterback, Johnny Manziel," athletic director Eric Hyman said in a prepared statement.

Jeremy Fowler noted last week that Texas A&M hasn't reduced Manziel's practice reps, suggesting that the coaching staff is preparing for the quarterback to start against the Owls. During recent NCAA investigations, it has been common to see players in question suit up for the scout team or take a leave from practice altogether.

If Texas A&M plays Manziel against Rice and the NCAA determines that he committed a violation later, the football program could be face punishment that includes vacated wins or probation.
