As Miramont Country Club Assistant Golf Pro Clay Wonnell warms up for the first round of the Shell Houston Open, he has to take a break to look around.

"We got unbelievable names on the driving range and I'm here with them. I've got my name on the sign here so it's official," said Wonnell.

This is the first PGA event the 24-year-old has been in and choking up on his nerves is easier said than done. But with a care free attitude to this experience of lifetime, Clay is confident.

"I've got no pressure, I've just got to get out there and do what I know I'm capable of doing. Look around. Smile. Enjoy the experience and hopefully say hi to some of the fans. It's going to be an unbelievable couple of days, hopefully four days," said Wonnell.

While the best of the best are here at the Shell Houston Open, Clay is drawing a crowd himself. Even though most of them are family and friends one member of his family is getting a front row seat to Clay's play-his Dad.

"When I found out I qualified for this I said no my Dad is not going to caddy for me," said Wonnell.

But what are the chances this assistant golf pro can cut it with the big boys? Pretty good as long as Clay can stick to his plan.

"I have three rules. Hit it where I can find it, chip it on the green the first time, and try not to three putt. If I do all three of those, I've got a pretty good chance to make the cut," said Wonnell.

Clay started his round paring his first hole, bogeying the second, but scored a birdie on his 3rd. Not a bad way to start his first professional round of golf.

"I was decent but I never thought I could play professional, unbelievable," said Wonnell while pointing down the line of golfers.
