It’s been a week since New Year’s and I hope you all have been sticking to the resolutions you’ve made for yourself. I wanted to add one more resolution that you might have missed: save more money! Start this year off right by saving and budgeting. Not only will this help you plan for today, but for tomorrow as well.
How I actually do my personal budgeting is through a website called mint.com. The great thing about using Mint is that it’s a secure website that allows you to enter in all your accounts from banking to credit cards to student loans. It stays up-to-date with all of the accounts that you provide and lets you know of any interest increases, low balances, upcoming bill dates,or any other type of important notifications.
Plus, mint.com is very interactive; you’ll also get advice as well as tips on how to better plan and save.
You’ll also get a pie charts and bar graphs showing your spending habits. Also what I love on mint.com’s website is that you can make goals. Goals for buying a house, the children’s college tuition, paying off the credit cards, or even to buy that $300 Michael Kors handbag you’ve been viewing.
And last but not least, did I mention that all of this is completely free?! So rather than you just assuming you know how to budget and doing it wrong or finding a financial planner that you’ll end up having to pay, go ahead and take advantage of mint.com’s budget planner.
No matter how small or large you need to plan, Mint.com has got you covered. Not only can you use this on the computer, but you can download the app if you’re an Apple or Android user.
You’ll be thanking me when you realize how much money you’ll actually have for this year. May 2013 be the year you actually have a resolution you can actually stick with!
