Rough, rough week last week. There were some real exciting games (Patriots at Seattle), some surprises (Giants at 49ers), and what seemed like an inordinate amount of underdogs that covered the spread but still managed to lose the game. But even though I only went 4-9 against the spread, the Yankees are down 3 games to 0 in the ALCS so it wasn’t a horrible week. On to this week’s lines!
Seattle (+7) at San Francisco – San Francisco didn’t look very good last week and ended up only putting up 3 points against the Giants. Seattle has a stellar defense and should hold the 49ers offense in check to keep it close.
Titans at Bills (-3) – Mario Williams finally showed up last week for the Bills. The Titans are one of the least impressive teams in the NFL and I think that the Bills can shut them down.
Cardinals (+6) at Vikings – The Vikings have been impressive so far, but I think that the Cardinals defense finds a way to keep this one close.
Browns at Colts (-2.5) – The Browns got their win last week, and I think it will be their last one for a while.
Ravens (+6.5) at Texans – The Packers sliced though the Texans defense like a knife through butter so look for Flacco to have a big game. I think the Texans will win but it will be close.
Packers (-6) at Rams – The Packers got back on track last week and I think they keep rolling this week with an easy win over the Rams.
Cowboys at Panthers (+2) – The Cowboys have been “Jekyll and Hyde” all season. Hyde has been coming out more than Jekyll so far, so that’s what I’m sticking with.
Redskins at Giants (-5.5) – The Giants defensive line should contain Robert Griffin III and when they do, the Redskins offense won’t be able to do much.
Saints at Buccaneers (+3) – The Buccaneers looked pretty good last week (even if it was against the lowly Chiefs). If the Bucs can continue to play well offensively, I think they can beat the Saints.
Jets at Patriots (-10.5) – With the Patriots coming off of a loss, I think that they will crush the Jets in Foxborough. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick won’t lost two in a row, especially to the rival Jets.
Jaguars at Raiders (-4) – If this game was in Jacksonville, I’d take the Jaguars. Unfortunately for Jacksonville, it’s in Oakland. I think the long travel time causes the Jaguars to come out a little sloppy and they won’t have enough time to make it up.
Steelers at Bengals (+1.5) – This seems like an even game so when in doubt, I’ll take the underdog at home.
Lions at Bears (-6.5) – The Bears have been impressive so far this season, while the Lions have shown flashes of being a good team but can’t seem to hold it together for long stretches. I like the Bears at Soldier Field on Monday night.
Last Week: 4-9
