Another week with a record over .500! That makes two in a row and I’m picking up momentum just in time for my late-season push back to .500. It’s Thanksgiving this week so we’ve got a slew of good games all day on Thursday (including the first-place Texans) followed by our regular slate of games on Sunday. This is also the first week since week 4 that no teams are on bye so we’ll finally get a chance to see every team in action!
Texans (-3.5) at Lions – After playing Jacksonville way too close last Sunday, I think Kubiak has the Texans ready to go up in Detroit on Thanksgiving. If the Texans are a true Super Bowl contender, these are the kind of road wins they need to pull out, and I think they will.
Redskins (+3) at Cowboys – Two wins in a row for the Cowboys!? It’s definitely time for them to blow one. Plus, Washington looked fantastic against a really bad Eagles team that has quit on their coach last week. I like Washington in this game as much as I dislike Robert Griffin III: A lot.
Patriots at Jets (+7) – I realize that the Jets have a coach that is incompetent 75% of the time, and a quarterback that is incompetent 90% of the time, but this is a big game for them. If they win this game they will only be 2 back in the AFC East with games against the Cardinals, at the Jaguars, at the Titans, Chargers, and at the Bills remaining. That’s a very favorable schedule and if they can win 4 of those, they are looking at 9-7 and a possible Wild Card. It’s a long shot, but could happen. And it all starts with a win on Thursday.
Raiders (+8) at Bengals – The Bengals are a slightly better team but neither of these teams have a shot at the playoffs, but Cincinnati isn’t good enough to be giving 8 points to anyone.
Bills at Colts (-3) – Look for a bounce back week from the Colts after getting dismantled by the Patriots last week. If they want to sneak into the playoffs, they need this win.
Steelers (+1) at Browns – After playing Baltimore close last week, I think that Pittsburgh can squeak out a win in Cleveland this week. The Browns just don’t have enough firepower to cause much damage and I don’t think they should be favored against a high school team right now.
Vikings at Bears – No line as of 11/21
Broncos at Chiefs (+10.5) – Just like the Browns hung with the Cowboys last week, I think that the Chiefs can hang around for a while. Or at least score a garbage time TD or two to cover.
Titans at Jacksonville (+3) – Chad Henne looked - dare is day it – good, against a pretty solid Texans defense last week. Expect more of the same this week against a weak Titans secondary.
Falcons (-1) at Buccaneers – The Bucs have looked great the last few weeks and reeled off some wins, but the Falcons are going to prove why they are still the class of the NFC South.
Seahawks at Dolphins (+3) – I like this Seahawks team, but I think Miami covers this one. The Seahawks have struggled away from home this season and I think the trend continues in Miami.
Ravens at Chargers (+1) – It surprised me that this line was so low, but after thinking about it, the Ravens defense has been ravaged my injuries. Also, this Chargers team looks fantastic on paper and I can’t figure out why they aren’t good. I think this is the week they finally beat a decent team.
49ers (-2) at Saints – After destroying the Bears last week, I think that the 49ers D continues their great play and keep Brees and the rest of the New Orleans offense from doing too much damage. Additionally, the Saints can’t stop anyone and after the show Kaepernick put on, San Fran’s defense could put up some big numbers.
Rams at Cardinals (-2.5) – The Rams got trounced at home by the Jets last week, so why will they be able to hang with the Cardinals on the road? They won’t.
Packers (+3) at Giants – I really, really like the Packers in this game. I think they are heating up and will make a big playoff push here towards the end of the season. Historically, the Giants aren’t a very good home team either, so I think the Packers squeak this one out.
Panthers (+2.5) at Eagles – After the performance (or lack thereof) that the Eagles put on last week, they shouldn’t be giving points to anyone. I’ll definitely grab the points in this one.
Last Week: 8-6
