"Red Dawn" Remake Tralier Debuts

(CBS News) "Red Dawn" will be back in theaters Nov. 21 with a new cast and a whole different set of explosions.

The first trailer is out, revealing some of the plot, which focuses on the Wolverines, a group of teens and twenty-somethings who try to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.

The "Red Dawn" remake, which went into production in 2008, stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas and Tom Cruise's son, Connor Cruise. The release had been delayed because of MGM's financial issues, and in the last year, Hemsworth and Hutcherson have become even bigger stars, thank to major film roles in "The Avengers" and "The Hunger Games," respectively.

The original "Red Dawn," released in 1984, starred a who's-who cast of 1980s actors: Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Jennifer Grey and Lea Thompson.

The first film centered on the then-Soviet Union invading the United States. In the reboot, it's North Korea as the enemy. According to The Wall Street Journal, the original storyline centered on China, but it was swapped for North Korea in May 2011 in hopes of earning better box office sales overseas. As a result, filmmakers had to digitally alter various parts of the film.
