Do you ever look into your closet and think, “wow, I have nothing to wear”? This happens to me regularly and it always results in excessive retail therapy. Recently, I have found a solution to my constant battle and I know you’re going to want to hear all about it.
Rent the Runway is a high-end designer dress rental website. You can become a member for free and rent dresses, jewelry, purses and much more. It’s a fairly simple process to rent items. First you chose the dress you want and when you need it. Then once you receive it, you get to look fabulous for the time being and then send it right back. Simple as that! Some of these dresses are worth five times the amount that you rent them for, so you’re definitely saving time, money, and closet space.
I know you’re probably wondering how this all ties in with Texas A&M. Well, Brittney Magee, a senior here with the plans of working in the fashion industry, has been selected as a Rent the Runway “It Girl”. What is an “It Girl” you ask? Brittney represent Rent the Runway campus-wide. She receives designer dresses and accessories every month to put in her “closet”. The dresses range in all sizes and types. Designers can include Lilly Pulitzer, Nicole Miller, Herve Leger, Milly, and many more. If you subscribe to her closet for $49 a month, you can rent as many times as you want from her.
It may sound like all fun and games, but getting to this position wasn’t easy for her. There were 350 applicants who applied and only eight girls were chosen. Lucky for us, Brittney at A&M was chosen for this amazing opportunity. “I love it because I am essentially running my own business out of my apartment. It has given me a ton of first-hand experience,” said Brittney. On a daily basis, she is managing the financial aspects and logistics of her “It Girl” closet. This opportunity has opened many doors and helped prepare her for her future endeavors. Since Rent the Runway is based out of New York, Brittney has stretched her Aggie network across the country!
Not only is she fulfilling her dreams, she is making it easier for ladies to always have something to wear. “The It Girl closet gives girls access to designer dresses without having to spend a fortune,” said Brittney. If you had a work function tonight and needed a dress, you can call her and pick a dress out for no additional cost. You can do this three times a month or every day of the month.
As a subscriber myself, my on-going battle with shopping has ceased to exist. I have rented for dinner dates, a night out with the girls, and work functions. It’s a very exclusive experience and I couldn’t be happier that A&M is a Rent the Runway campus.
If you are interested in joining, Brittney is always looking for new girls to join so you can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
