Tayari Jones and Tim O'Brien Visit Aggieland

Hello book lovers! Next week is an exciting week for us! Both Tayari Jones and Tim O’Brien will be visiting A&M and hosting book readings and signings. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to meet these talented authors!

Tayari Jones is the winner of the Hurston-Wright Legacy Award for Debut Fiction. Her novel Leaving Atlanta is a coming-of-age story that is set against the historical backdrop of the Atlanta Child Murders of 1979-1981. Her third novel Silver Sparrow, tells the story of two sisters: Dana Lynn Yarbor and Bunny Chaurisse Witherspoon and the secrets that pull them together.

On April 2, Jones will be giving a public reading of Leaving Atlanta at 7pm at Bryan Civic Auditorium. She will also be holding a book sale and signing at her second reading of her more recent novel, Silver Sparrow on April 3, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brazos Valley African American Museum.

Tim O’Brien has been named the winner of both the National Book Award for Fiction and the James Fennimore Cooper Prize for Best Historical Fiction. O’Brien is an American born novelist most well-known for writing about the impact that the Vietnam War had on the soldiers who fought in it. He will be reading from his book The Things They Carried, a poignant meditation that draws on the experiences of soldiers in Vietnam both during and after the war.

On Tuesday, April 2 at the Glasscock Center Library Tim O’Brien will be hosting a reception and book signing at 3:30 p.m. with a reading and questions at 4:00 p.m.
