NEW YORK (AP) - Think of him as the Usain Bolt of texting. A 17-year-old boy has not only won the honor as fastest texter in America - but is also a repeat winner.

Austin Wierschke of Wisconsin is the winner of the U.S. LG National Texting Competition. For winning the event in New York's Times Square, he gets $50,000 in prize money for the second straight year in a row. The winner will combine the winnings to help pay for college.

The contest was sponsored by LG and all the contestants used an LG Optimus Zip phone with a standard QWERTY keyboard. To practice for the event, the teen says he sent almost 500 texts a day to his friends - and boasts that he has "abnormally fast thumbs."
