David Baldacci is a name that I am familiar with in the book world, every time I go into the bookstore I feel like I always see one of his books on display. When I was browsing this time I felt like it was finally time to read one of his books, so I chose his newest novel “The Hit.” This was a great one for me to start off with, I loved it! This book was fantastic and I am so looking forward to reading more by Baldacci in the future.
Will Robie is a highly skilled assassin; he is the man that the U.S. government calls on when they need the worst of the worst taken care of. Many say he is the best around, that no one can match his skill and talent well that is no one except Jessica Reel. Reel is a colleague of Robie’s that has gone rogue and is taking out people of their agency. In order to stop one of their own they must send out one of their own, a killer to catch a killer. Robie vs. Reel. As Robie pursues Reel he is quickly questioning the orders of this mission and wondering what the real motives are behind Reel’s killings. It is soon revealed that this goes way deeper than anyone could have imagined and it will take everything Robie has to find out the truth.
Baldacci did an amazing job with this book. I know there are plenty of government conspiracy novels out there, but this one was fantastic. Baldacci shows you what lengths people will go to for justice and revenge. The main characters Robie and Reel were so hardcore and so good at what they did. I was so amazed at how detailed Baldacci would get in some scenes when it came to Robie and Reel handling their guns, it was so easy to follow and you just knew that they were completely sure of themselves and I loved that.
The novel had a great flow throughout the entire thing; there was never a dull moment or a point where I got bored. I was completely pulled into this book from the very beginning. After finishing this book I realized there was another book by Baldacci, “The Innocent” where readers are first introduced to Will Robie, so I will definitely be checking out that book soon.
I feel lucky because all my reviews lately have been over such great books and I will tell you like I have said in my other reviews, check this book out! You will not be disappointed my friends!
