The Perfect Game Day

This past Saturday, the football team and Coach Sumlin received their first Aggie win of the season. Whoop! After Florida’s unexpected loss, we needed a little confidence booster.

Our first SEC game showed that we were prepared on and off the field. Aggieland did exactly what was expected and provided the best hospitality they could. Everyone seemed to be talking about it. Check out one Dallas man’s opinion here.

An A&M football game is unique compared to others. There are so many different things to do and as an upperclassman, I still don’t know all the ins and outs of game day. Although, I do know a few things that you cannot miss out on.

Today, I’m going to go through a few events that would create the “perfect Aggie game day”.

To start it off, the first step is Midnight Yell. This is an unforgettable tradition that does not need explaining. Midnight Yell includes practicing the yells for the game and the famous “muggin’ down”. There’s nothing better to begin the weekend with than some real Aggie action.

On the next day, make sure to be prepared for a lot of excitement, yelling, and standing. Your next step towards the perfect game day is going to a tailgate. If you don’t know exactly how to make an unforgettable tailgate, you can always ask the Tailgate Guys at http://tailgateguys.com/. This is the perfect thing to do while waiting for all the festivities to start.

Once kick-off starts approaching, The Aggie Fan Zone is the place to be. There are a variety of booths from restaurants and places around town. Sometimes they even give out free food! They always have fun games to play with your family or some friends.

To continue on your perfect game day, you have to go watch the Corps march in or also know as “step off”. They march in from the Quad to Kyle Field at an hour and a half before kick off. Anyone can go watch and it is right by The Aggie Fan Zone so you won’t have to walk very far.

By this time, you are probably thinking it’s game time, but it’s not! At this point, you definitely want to start making your way to your seats, because the best part is about to start.

After you get to your spot in the stadium, you cannot miss the fly over. This always gets the crowd pumped and marks the beginning of the pre-game excitement. Soon after the fly-over, you can witness the football players warming up and watch the A&M highlight reels. These videos are produced by 12th Man TV and show what an amazing place Aggieland is.

After we BTHO whomever we’re playing, the fun doesn’t stop. Your next step is to watch the Corp freshmen catch the yell leaders on the field, carry them to Fish Pond and then toss them in! If we “run out of time”, you can stay a little late and participate in one more fight song and a couple more yells to prepare you for next week’s game! This is another Aggie tradition that cannot be looked over. This marks the end of your tiring, yet perfect, Aggie game day.
