The Top 3 Albums On My To-Buy List

Whether you are constantly increasing your iTunes bill with every new single release, or you're weird like me and still like hitting the music section at Hastings and buying new CDs, everyone loves new music. It's one of the most immediate ways to keep finding new ways to love something you've always loved. Most people just buy the singles on iTunes or their music supplier of choice, but I feel like if you only buy one song at a time, you take the risk of missing out on some true gems that almost always appear on the album but never hit the radio waves. So here are the three albums I will be getting as soon as payday hits this week...

To Be Loved - Michael Buble

This is probably extremely random, but that's because I have extremely random musical taste, as my other two choices will definitely show. I'm not sure when my love of everything Buble started, but his Pandora station is one that I'm constantly streaming. I love his old, Sinatra-style sound and even when its a sad song, he still sounds hopeful. I think that's what drew me to him in the first place. That and the fact that I may be one of the youngest Sinatra fans currently. I haven't heard anything off of his new album yet, but knowing all of his past work I know its going to be one I'll be listening to daily.

Love is Everything - George Strait

I was raised on George Strait. He's almost like royalty in my parents' house - we own his less-than-Oscar-worthy early 90's acting attempt, Pure Country, on both VHS and DVD. Yet every time its on TV, everyone stops and watches it for the 200th time. So everything he does in my eyes is musical gold. As soon as I heard his first single off of this album, Give It All We Got Tonight, about six months ago, I couldn't wait for his new album to come out. He's classic and eternal, and can always be counted on to keep the tradition of country alive.

The 20/20 Experience - Justin Timberlake

Okay, so really I've had this album since it was released a few months ago and have listened to it countless times. I think its safe to say I am one of JT's biggest fans (it may or may not borderline on unhealthy) so I had to include it on my list, and I think I can safely say that it is a complete masterpiece. The project is a complete reinvention of himself and his image, a far cry from his baggy pants, sequined shirt boy band days, which I also shamelessly still love. He once again collaborated with Timbaland, giving it a sort-of-similar sound to his second album, but it is clearly a new era of Justin. And though the tracks can get a little long (around 7-8 minutes each) you don't really notice because its just SO good. And that may be an understatement. With a few exceptions, the whole album takes on a Doo-Wop sound mixed with his R&B/Pop/Hip Hop sound we all know and love. And every song still makes you want to get up and dance (or maybe that's just me).

And as a preview, I will be completing my life and going to one of Justin's shows in August in Boston. So look for a post and many, MANY pictures in the near future!

So I hope I've added a few albums to your list with this, or at the very least encouraged you to get the whole album of an artist, and possibly discover your new favorite song that you may not have known otherwise!
