As promised, I wanted to share a few of my tips for this upcoming weekend!
Get there early! The grounds get packed very quickly and parking isn’t the most organized operation. Getting a close parking spot and a good spot by the stage is much better than walking a mile or looking over peoples’ heads all day.
DO NOT bring any valuables. There are absolutely no places to leave a handbag, ice chest, or chairs. Unless, you have a team and trust the surrounding people, you’re going to want to bring a fanny pack or make sure things fit in your pockets.
What to bring? Now you’re asking, “well, if I can’t bring much…what should I bring?” Well you DEFINITELY need these: ID, Chap Stick, sunscreen, sunglasses, minimal cash, and a good attitude!
DO NOT throw anything. Chilifest security has been extremely intolerant of those who throw things. They have no mercy when it comes to kicking people out and sometimes, taking people straight to the cops. Keep your belongings to yourself and everyone will be just fine.
Take the bus. Driving into Snook can be more have a hassle than some believe. I have taken the bus in years past just because it’s safer and easier. The bus this year leaves from the Brazos County Expo Complex. Also, if you plan to drink, DO NOT think you will get away with driving. You WILL get pulled over and get a ticket. Last year, we counted 17 cars pulled over between Snook and College Station. Just make the right choice.
HAVE FUN! Chilifest only happens once a year and it’s the perfect time to let loose with some friends. There’s going to be good music, good people, and some good food so soak that all in! Just be prepared and MAKE GOOD CHOICES and everything will be perfect!
Here are some of my favorite photos...
I hope everyone decides to make their way out to Snook this weekend and I would love to hear some of your favorite Chilifest stories!
