Three months ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Heisman Trophy at the local Douglass Nissan dealership. It was the Friday before the Florida game, our first appearance in the SEC. If you had told me that Johnny Manziel would soon be the owner of that trophy, I would have laughed.
Although Johnny’s win was phenomenal, we have made so much history aside from sports. As the fall semester comes to a close, Aggies can reminisce over a prosperous few months. A&M has made tremendous strides to enhance this campus. From acquiring a law school to putting up a billboard in Times Square, A&M has never been more prevalent. It is truly an honor to call myself an Aggie and claim that I was a student while all these amazing steps have been taken.
As much as I love everything else about Texas A&M, I have to talk about the Heisman. Johnny Football has put A&M on the map like never before. It just wasn’t enough for him to be known after we BTHO Bama…Johnny deserved more. Texas A&M was represented with the respect and dignity it deserves when Johnny took the stage at the Heisman presentation. His poise and speaking skills were some people work on for years. He showed the nation what the 12th man was all about. If you didn’t know how remarkable A&M is, you do now.
The motto “It’s time for Texas A&M University” has never rang more true. Congratulations to all the Aggies out there, especially Johnny Football.
