The Ledet Family

This week’s post is going to be a little different than normal. Recently, I’ve had a heavy heart for many different reasons. Everyone has heard of the recent tragedy of the Ledet family and I want to share how their story has changed my perspective on life.

As many of you know, the Ledet family lost four family members in a plane crash. One of the daughters of the father in the crash, attended Texas A&M. Not only was she in the Aggie family, she was a part of the Greek community.

Immediately when I heard the information, my heart ached for our fellow Aggie and her family. I knew that I wouldn’t be the only one who wanted to be there for them during this situation.

Aggies and members of Greek life joined together all over the country to show their support. From local communities to universities in other states, the Ledets were not alone.

Soon after hearing about this, I heard news about another plane crash where four boys were killed. The boys were friends of my friend and it pained me to see to see them suffer.

At this point, I started thinking that life is very precious. Not only to me but also to my close friends and family. I saw that I was taking every breath for granted and it was time to embrace my life.

Last Friday morning, I heard the news of a high school friend’s passing due to a car wreck the previous night. This news hit way too close to home and I wasn’t sure if my heart could handle anymore.
After this, I did what every girl does when she’s down…I called my mom. I wanted to tell her how much I loved and appreciated her. She replied with, “it’s good to hear that every once and while.” This conversation proved to me that I needed to do this more often to more people.

These tragic events have hurt but have also strengthened. I was in awe of the strong support from everyone for these people, and I will never forget the Aggie family coming together.

Due to these event, I challenge you everyday to make sure you show just one person that you care about how much you love them. I challenge you to write down what you’re thankful for once a week. I challenge you to make a difference in your life and others.
