My last two blogs have been about taking care of your skin to prevent wrinkles and some tips to keep your face in tip-top shape. Today, we’ll change it up just a bit.

I’ve have plenty of people ask what to do with foundation if they already have wrinkles. The answer might just surprise you.

When we want to cover our flaws we normally want to REALLY cover them. So, we choose super heavy foundations. Well, when you start to lose elasticity in your skin, the last thing you want on your face is some thick, clay—like foundation. Heavy foundation is gross anyway.
We should all generally steer in the direction of lighter foundations at any age.

My favorite type of foundation is liquid. It really works with any age group. I’m generally not a fan of cream foundation to begin with.
Powders should really never be worn if you’re trying to decrease the look of wrinkles. When you add a powder on top of wrinkles, it creates a look of deeper wrinkles.

Avoid creams and powders:

Now, I know the question you’re asking…what about coverage? A liquid makeup can be put on in layers (about every 3-5 minutes) in order to create a fuller coverage look. In the meantime, do your hair, eyes or lips. There are plenty of great liquid foundations out there. Make sure you purchase something with SPF and antioxidants if you can! Foundations that include both are going to be the best for your skin.

If you are worried about your foundation coming off with just wearing a liquid, lightly brush some translucent powder on top to set it.
