You don’t have to be a millionaire to score killer lashes! There are some simple tricks of the trade when applying mascara to give your lashes a “they must be fake” look.
First off, you can buy your mascara at a drug store. Splurging on mascara won’t give you better results! My personal favorite is Maybelline’s “Falsies” line. I always purchase waterproof. I love this line because it helps with length, volume and curl because of the formula and curved brush. Also, it’s super inexpensive!
Mascara primers are great for some women that need extra help getting fuller lashes, but, if you use mascara like mentioned above you shouldn’t need to invest.
An eyelash curler is my best friend. No one ever wants to put that contraption up to their eyes, but it becomes part of your routine after the first couple times. If you decide you are up to the curling task, make sure you get as close to the bottom of your lashes as possible before you clamp down. If you have really long lashes, you can curl at the base of your lashes and near the top.
I’ve found that when applying mascara, if I slightly wiggle the wand while my eyes are slightly open before I close my lids, it covers more lashes while defining each one. I like to start applying the mascara at my inner eye and work toward the outer portion. Sometimes, when I want a really bold look, I will apply two or three coats of mascara.
If you pump the wand into the mascara to pick up more, you’re drying out your mascara. If you want to get more on the brush, move it in a circular motion. If you see your mascara drying out, add a little contact solution to it.
