Candlestick Holder

I have a lot of little bathroom items that somehow seem to always end up on my dresser instead of in the bathroom. My perfume, earrings, and some makeup just won’t stay in my bathroom, so it makes my dresser and my bedroom look cluttered. So for this week’s DIY, I decided to make something decorative for my dresser to hold all of those little items and make them look less cluttered.

For this project I went to the Dollar Store and purchased a large chip and dip plate, a medium sized dinner plate, a candlestick holder, and some glue. I also purchased spray paint from Hobby Lobby. To begin, I washed both plates and dried them. Then I spray painted them on one side, waited several hours, then flipped them over and spray painted the bottom. I let them dry overnight after that. Then I super glued the candlestick holder to the dip area of the chip and dip tray and waited several hours for that to dry, and then super glued it to the center of the plate. And that was it! I now have a pretty tray to keep my makeup and perfume on in the bedroom.

My advice for this project would be to make sure that the base of the candle stick holder is small enough to fit in the dip area of the tray, or else buy a regular plate for the base. Mine happened to fit perfectly, but I hadn’t thought to check it before I bought it so it was all by chance.
While this project is really easy, it takes a lot of time because so much stuff has to dry, so make sure you allot enough time to let the paint and glue dry before trying to use this or you may accidentally ruin your counter or dresser.
