As a recent graduate from Ole Miss, I’m obviously obsessed with the SEC. (But really, who isn’t?) Tailgates, National Championships, and pure awesomeness probably come to mine for most, but what about fashion. Yes, two of my favorite things unite on College Gamedays, clothes and football (or tailgating, whatever.) So, when I came to the realization the Florida game was just around the corner, I decided I must write a fashion guide for Aggie Game Day.
First I want to say that all schools have their own traditions, and I’m not suggesting you stray away from the Aggie culture, I am just giving a few suggestions to spice up your look!
For the ladies:
Comfortable, classic dresses are my go to look for any game. Number one, once you buy a few maroon (or any combo with maroon, white, and black) dresses, you can easily add different trendy accessories and re-wear them each year. Number two, if you decide you want to hold off on an outfit, it’s simple to go from wearing sandals for earlier in the season to boots, sweaters, jackets, scarfs, etc. for those much cooler games.
For white or black dresses here are some possible accessories; purse, belt, tights, and scarfs. (But really anything will work!)
If dresses just aren’t your thing, you can never go wrong with a romper. It looks trendy and it’s easy to throw on. Keep in mind, rompers can be tricky, make sure it doesn’t make you look larger than you are. The romper should go in at the smallest part of your waist, add a belt if you need to.
Finally, I know I’ve harped on colored denim, so I’m assuming you all know maroon jeans or shorts are the perfect touch for a game day. When it gets cooler, you can also try black jeans.
If shopping before the game isn’t an option this week, my advice is to look through your closet and collect all your maroon, white, and black pieces and see if anything looks cute together. Don’t be afraid to try something you normally wouldn’t!
Two things to stay away from; over the top Aggie accessories and your typical game day shirt. When you over do the TAMU gear you might go from looking spirited to slightly crazy... and avoid that game day shirt if you want to stand out in a crowd of maroon!
For the men:
Y’all have it pretty simple. Put on some maroon.
I suggest khaki shorts and a polo. You don’t want to be over-dressed in a suit and bow-tie, but athletic shorts looks a little lazy. I found these nice looking shirts on Old Army Spirit Company and Aggieland Outfitters.
I hope this helps y'all get prepared for the first SEC Aggie Gameday! This is history making, and I can't wait to be a part of it! Go Aggies!
