Harry Stamps hated daylight saving time, calling it "The Devil's Time," and he died the day before he would have had to spring his clock forward an hour.

(USA Today) - In life, Harry Stamps was his own man. In death, though, he's become an online phenomenon, thanks to a spunky obituary written by his daughter that's going viral.

The former dean of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College was his own brand of foodie, who enjoyed a "life-long love affair with deviled eggs" and "buttermilk served in martini glasses garnished with cornbread." He was a great traveler who stayed only "in the finest quality AAA-rated campgrounds;" a "natty dresser" whose signature look included "a grass-stained MSU baseball cap" and "a plain pocketed T-shirt designed by the fashion house Fruit of the Loom;" and "a ladies man" who regretted "not seeing his girl, Hillary Clinton, elected president."

"He wouldn't know what going viral means," says Stamps' daughter, Amanda Lewis, but it "would have excited him to have another illness to lord over folks." Lewis told the Sun Herald that she wrote the obituary while traveling to Long Beach, Miss., where her dad died.

Lewis' tribute also notes that Stamps hated daylight saving time, calling it "The Devil's Time," and he died the day before he would have had to spring his clock forward an hour. "This can only be viewed as his final protest," she wrote. Be sure to read the original obit in all its glory.
