I am a firm believer that unless you’re literally sweating in them or they are under-garments, clothes do not have to be washed after just one wear. Constant washing and rewashing of any piece of clothing can wear it out and ultimately change the garment you once loved.
One of my personal biggest laundry fears is that one day I will ruin my favorite pair of jeans. Now let’s be realistic ladies, as much as we might not like to admit it, we will do anything not to ruin those pair of jeans that we feel were custom made for our particular bodies! That includes only washing them when we absolutely HAVE to. There’s no shame in that! We just want to expand our jeans lives to the longest amount possible!
Yet unfortunately we occasionally encounter those times where the first time we’re wearing our jeans after washing them something causes them to smell. Whether it is that we were by a fire, someone smoking a cigarette, or sitting in a Mexican restaurant for too long, our freshly washed jeans do not smell very fresh anymore. However in our minds we know they are not actually dirty! Therefore it’s a painful thought having to put them back into the washing machine, right after they just got out because of an icky odor.
So I have found a trick to ease your mind and prolong those jeans life, even in the smelliest situations! The key; the freezer! All you have to do is fold up those pair of jeans and put them into a plastic bag. Then stick them in the freezer and let them stay there for about two days. Once you take them out the odor will be completely gone, just like that!
Although I wouldn’t recommend this as a permanent alternative to actually washing your jeans, the freezer has been proven to kill bacteria that have built up on them just like a washing machine does. This leaves them looking, feeling and (best of all) smelling just as good as new! And the greatest part is the wear and tear of washing is eliminated and the life of your favorite jeans just became that much longer!
