Happy Thirsty Thursday y’all! Look how far you’ve made it this week, how much you’ve accomplished, the hours until Friday… let’s drink to all that. To keep with the holiday spirit I made some Christmas Margaritas. Let’s be real, we’re in Texas! It’s still 80 degrees outside so a good cherry margarita is definitely still acceptable. Plus the color makes it feel festive!
Frozen Cherry Margarita
• 1 ½ ounces cherry vodka
• ½ ounce triple sec
• 1 ounce lime juice
• Splash grenadine
• Limes for garnish
Pour all ingredients as well as two cups of ice and blend thoroughly. Prepare your glass with sugar on the rim, pour in your cherry cocktail and enjoy! Perfect to forget Texas “winters” and a wonderful drink for holiday get togethers!
For the appetizer, who doesn’t love guacamole? I mean come on; it’s good with literally everything and is healthy! Avocados are proven to lower cholesterol, plus they are a great source of fiber and vitamins. Can’t get any better than that! I usually kind of wing it when I make my guac, but I will do my best to give y’all a recipe with actual measurements!
• 4 avocados
• 1 tomato, chopped
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 jalapeno, chopped and deseeded
• 1 clove of garlic minced (or garlic powder)
• 1-2 tablespoons Cilantro
• 2 teaspoons lime juice
• Tony Chachere’s
Use a knife to cut all the way around the avocado and pull the two sides apart. Using a spoon, dig out the entire avocado and put in a medium sized bowl. You can throw in a seed or two in the mix to keep it fresher longer if you’d like. Mash until chunky, not completely smooth, and begin adding in the other ingredients one at a time and mix together. What makes this recipe for me is the Tony Chachere’s. You can mix it in with the other ingredients and also put on top for garnishing and an extra kick. So good y’all! If you don’t want to take the time to prepare the ingredients fresh, you can cheat and buy a container of pico de gallo at the store. Don’t forget to add in your garlic, lime juice, cilantro and Tony’s though! Still yummy and takes little time to prepare if you’re in a rush.
Get in the kitchen y’all! These recipes are sure to satisfy. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, otherwise Happy December and see y’all next week!
