Downtown Bryan is going retro with a Second Saturday Summer Movie series. Three modern classics from the 80's will be shown at the Palace Theater on the second Saturday of June, July and August. Admission is free and concessions will be available, also at retro prices! Showtime is 8:30 p.m. each month.
Each month, attendees are encouraged to come in costume appropriate to each movie. Prizes and giveaways will be offered each month.
Kicking off the series on Saturday, June 14 is Back to the Future. In this 1985 release, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd).
A Christmas in July downtown shopping promotion will be capped off with A Christmas Story on July 12. Set in the 1940's, this classic tells the story of Ralphie, who tries to convince his parents, his teacher and Santa that a Red Ryder B.B. gun really is the perfect gift.
Ending the summer series on August 9 is Ghostbusters, marking the 30th anniversary of its release this year. Three unemployed parapsychology professors (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis) set up shop as a unique ghost removal service.
