Ok, so I know I said fall is my favorite time of year, but really I love winter just as much. As I type this I’m sitting in an XL comfy sweater while sipping on hazelnut coffee. You can see why I love it.
This morning I realized that another reason why cold weather is so great is because of all the new smells. Whaaat? Yes, the smells. Like the smell of the cold air. Like the smell of my car that can’t heat up fast enough. The smell of hot lattes and cider on the stove. The smell of the heater coming on for the first time in months. Oh, and the smell of the Crock pot that has been on all day.
If you are like me, you don’t spend the majority of your day at home. You’re out and about, running errands, working or going to class. But when you return from a long day at work, nothing is better than being greeted with a nice warm dinner. And you can afford this luxury! Let me tell you how.
Make a Crock pot dinner!
It may sound complicated, intimidating, or just too old fashioned. But it’s not. Here’s how you do it.
You will need the following ingredients:
• 1 medium onion, sliced
• 1 green pepper, chopped
• 6 red potatoes, quartered
• 2 handfuls baby carrots
• 1 boneless chuckeye roast
• 1 packet dried onion soup mix
• 2 c water
If you are preparing this meal for dinner, you will want to start around 12 p.m. or earlier.
First, lay out all of the chopped veggies into the bottom of the Crock pot. Then place the meat on top of them. Pour the water over the top of the veggies and meat and sprinkle the packet of onion soup on top! Turn your Crock pot on low and put the lid on. Cook your dinner for four to six hours on low heat, let it cool, and enjoy!
