Looking forward to celebrating ‘Merica? Try these festive recipes to ensure your Memorial Day get together is a hit!
Stars and Stripes Sangria
In a large pitcher, layer the fruit in an alternating pattern and then add the wine and Sprite. Add however much of each to your liking! Allow the flavors to blend for a few hours before serving.
1 ½ oz vodka
½ oz triple sec
½ oz sweet and sour
½ oz blue curacao
1 dash grenadine
Mix all the ingredients together except the grenadine and pour in a martini glass. Add in your grenadine and put your party pants on!
Star Spangled Sprite
Try this easy concoction for an alcohol free drink idea! Create a festive drink by layering red fruit punch, blue Gatorade and Sprite. The key is to put the drink with the highest sugar content on the bottom so start with the fruit punch, slowly pour in the blue Gatorade and top with Sprite. The kids will love it!
1 package sugar cookie dough (for base)
8 oz package cream cheese
8 oz container Cool Whip
¼ cup confectioners’ sugar
1 pint strawberries
1 pint raspberries
1 pint blueberries
Lay the sugar cookie dough out on a cookie sheet so that it covers it entirely. Bake according to package directions. Blend together the cream cheese, Cool Whip and sugar and spread mixture on top of your sugar cookie base. Top with fruit in a pattern that resembles the American flag (shown in slideshow). This light, fresh dessert is the perfect dish to bring to any Memorial Day get together!
