SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas A&M Judo wins gold in the 100kg (220lb) Men’s black belt, 90kg (198lb) Men’s black belt, 90kg (198lb) Men’s brown belt, 81kg (178lb) Men’s Novice, 73kg (161lb) Men’s black belt, and the 66kg (145lb) Men’s master’s division.
Nathan Westbrook avenged a first round loss to win gold in the 100kg division. Nathan went 2-1 in a best 2 of 3 division.
Cory Klemachevich had another undefeated day winning both a brown belt and a black belt 90kg division. Cory, a brown belt, Threw or pinned every opponent early in each match to claim both gold medals and a 4 – 0 record.
Frank Cortez beat out teammate Garrett Hawkins for the gold medal in the 81kg novice (under green belt) division. Garrett brought home the bronze medal in his first away tournament with TAMU Judo.
Arash Pourhabib also was undefeated in the 73kg division with a record of 2-0.
Coach Dan Gomez was undefeated in the 66kg master’s (over 30 years old) division with a 2-0 record.
The Aggies are preparing for the National Collegiate Champions in Ames, IA March 16, 2013.
