I'm sure by now you've all heard the shocking and creepy (sorry) news revolving around Manti Te'o's not so real girlfriend. (If you haven't click here quick.)
Well, me and my friends were talking last night, giving our opinions on the whole situation, when catfish was brought up. For those of you aren't familiar with this term;
"A catfish is someone who pretends to be someone they're not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances."
Now whether you believe Te'o was in on it or not... I think we can all agree no one wants to be a victim of catfish. My advice? Don't put yourself in that situation!
Don't talk/accept their friend request/tweet at/any sort of communication with people you don't know. Hello haven't you heard of stranger danger? It still exists people!
I bet you're thinking, "but I have 100 mutual friends with them!" Well if you can't remember who they are, you probably don't know them.
Next thing you know they're sending you "hey sexy" messages and you respond (out of curiosity, anger, whatever) adding fuel to the fire. Just say no... to online creepers!
Alright guys, help the world become a better place. Leave a comment on how you avoid fake online friends.
