Forget #Tebowing; it's time to start #Teoing.
In the wake of the bombshell Deadspin story that exposed Notre Dame star Manti Te'o's girlfriend as a fake, a new photographic trend is arising on Instagram and Twitter: It's called #Teoing, and it basically consists of men posing for photos with invisible girlfriends.
The obvious precedent is #Tebowing, a runaway fad from late 2011 inspired by a surprising pose struck by then Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow during a game, in which the Tebowing person get down on one knee and start praying in an unlikely location. It's also reminiscent of a second Internet meme, #Eastwooding, in which people pose next to empty chairs a la actor Clint Eastwood during the 2012 Republican National Convention.
The Internet's attention has now turned to #Teoing, though, and the photos of men cradling, kissing and snuggling with imaginary invisible girlfriends overfloweth.
