Katy Man Jailed for Selling Fake Viagra

KATY, Texas A 49-year-old man from Katy has been charged with selling around 17,000 fake Viagra pills following an undercover investigation linked to Houston and Chicago.

According to prosecutors in Houston, Jamal Khattab of Katy and Fayez Al-Jabri of Chicago, were named in an 11-count indictment unsealed on Aug. 6.

Khattab faces charges of conspiracy, smuggling goods into the United States, two counts of trafficking in counterfeit goods, two counts of trafficking in misbranded drugs and two counts of trafficking in counterfeit drugs.

Al-Jabri faces similar charges.

The indictment said the defendants had been smuggling counterfeit Viarga from China since 2010. The pills were allegedly shipped to Chicago or Houston in bulk for illegal sales in smaller quantities.

Both defendants remain in custody pending detention hearings.
