GOP Candidates for Congress Answer Your Questions Live

Rob Curnock and Bill Flores will meet in a runoff to decide who will be the Republican nominee for Texas' 17th District in the US House. Thursday morning, they met on KBTX to answer your questions.

The two candidates were live on Brazos Valley This Morning giving their takes on a variety of topics as submitted by viewers over the past week.

The winner of the April 13 runoff faces Democrat Chet Edwards in the general election. The ten-term congressman is scheduled to make his regular visit via phone from Washington next Wednesday on the only local morning television newscast.

Early voting begins Monday for all runoff elections.

PART 1 QUESTIONS:

Mike in College Station: Do you support a constitutional amendment to require a balanced budget for the federal government?

William in Buffalo: How would you go about securing our southern border?

"Leftwingnut" in Bryan: What conservative principle distinguishes you from your Republican opponent?

PART 2 QUESTIONS:

Douglas in College Station: Do you consider yourself supporters of the Tea Party movement?

John in Hearne: How do you think you are better set to deal with veterans' affairs than Chet Edwards?

Dell in College Station: What needs to be done to get more businesses and jobs to move here from other states? And what specific kinds of businesses do you think would move to this area?

PART 3 QUESTIONS:

Andrew: What do you hope to accomplish in the upcoming term if you are elected? If you could only accomplish one goal, what would it be?

Ashley in Waco: Would you support eliminating the minimum wage?

LW in BCS: What are your thoughts about public transportation for the smaller communities in District 17, such as bus, rail, etc.?
