Candidates Come to FN@4: Kyle Kacal

Posted: Wed 4:59 PM, Jul 25, 2012

A Republican nominee to represent the rural Texas State House District 12 will be chosen. The candidates are appearing on First News at Four this week.

Calvert lawyer and rancher Tucker Anderson finished with the most votes in May's five-person race for the newly-drawn House district. He scored just shy of 30 percent, with Kyle Kacal finishing second with 24 percent, meaning both those men headed to the July 31 runoff.

The winner will face Democrat Robert Stem of Waco in November.

Kacal grew up in Pearland, but has spent much of his life in Brazos County. In addition to owning and working his cattle ranch here, he's served on numerous boards, including the Allen Academy school board. Kacal graduated from Texas A&M, and holds a ranch management certificate from TCU. It's his first run for political office.

District 12 covers mostly rural portions of Brazos County, eastern portions of McLennan County, and all of Robertson, Falls and Limestone Counties.

Monday on First News at Four, Anderson was live in studio to discuss his campaign and his platform.
