Early Voting in B/CS Elections Begins Next Monday

Updated: Mon 1:45 PM, Apr 25, 2011

One week from Monday marks the start of early voting in one of the most critical elections in College Station history.

Not only are three of the seven seats on the council up for grabs with no incumbents running, but three other council members are up for recall.

Proposition One of the special election is the question of whether voters are in favor or against recalling Mayor Nancy Berry. Councilmember Katy-Marie Lyles' fate rests with Proposition Two, and Councilmember Dave Ruesink is the subject of Proposition Three.

Citizens against the annexation of Wellborn collected enough signatures to put the three representatives on the ballot, each of which voted both to continue the annexation studies and for the annexation of the community itself.

Early voting in the City of Bryan elections will also take place starting May 2. That period ends May 10, with Election Day in both cities set for May 14.

There are no contested city council races in Bryan. One school board race is contested, while another only has one candidate.

College Station has two contested school board races in addition to its city council and special elections.
