Flores Announces First Town Hall Meetings

Posted: Fri 11:32 AM, Feb 11, 2011

A local congressman is hitting the roads of his district to hear from citizens.

Rep. Bill Flores (R-District 17) will hold four town hall meetings during the last week of February to update constituents on the goings-on in Congress since the latest session began. The final meeting will take place in Bryan.

“With the new Congress comes a new era of transparency, openness and accountability," Flores said in a press release. "I am honored and humbled to serve the 17th Congressional District of Texas, and I pledge to remain committed to common-sense policies that will positively impact Central Texans and all Americans.

"It is important to me to be able to spend as much time as possible back home with the people I work for so that I may listen to my constituents, become better informed on their priorities and ensure that they are heard in Washington," he continued.

Flores is in his first term representing District 17.

In the aftermath of a congressional town hall meeting in Arizona that left six people dead and many others injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Flores's office notes that "local law enforcement has been notified to ensure the safety of all attendees."
