AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he will consider seeking the Republican nomination for president.

The longest serving governor in Texas history reversed course Friday after saying for months that he wasn't interesting in running for the White House. Perry said he will decide on whether to enter the race after the Texas legislature adjourns for the year.

Perry was speaking at a ceremonial signing event for legislation that will require Texas voters to present photo identification at polling places.
