State Representative Fred Brown's Bryan-College Station district is getting chopped up a bit under a House-approved redistricting plan.
The new state-wide plan approved last week all but guarantees a continued Republican majority in the House.
Brown's District 14, now stretches from just north of Navasota to north of Kurten in Brazos County.
But under this new redistricting plan, the district would only encompass most of Bryan-College Station, and would lose areas to the north and south.
Brown says, "I lost all of Wellborn, Millican, and east I lost all the way out to Edge. So all the rural parts of the county are in different districts now."
Under the plan, the north and south parts of Brown's district in Brazos County would be moved to a new, primarily rural District 12.
It would stretch from just north of Navasota, go around Bryan-College Station, and up through Robertson, Falls, and Limestone counties, and include part of McLennan County.
