A candidate forum will be held Tuesday night featuring a pair of runoff elections.

The Republican Women of the Brazos Valley are hosting the event, which starts at 6:00 p.m. at the College Station Hilton's Oakwood Ballroom. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will also stream live here at KBTX.com and will broadcast live on WTAW. NewsTalk 1620's Scott DeLucia will moderate.

In the race for Brazos County District Attorney, prosecutor Jarvis Parsons and defense attorney David Hilburn are squaring off. Parsons earned 48 percent of the vote in May's primary. Hilburn finished second in the four-person race with 22 percent. Since no candidate earned a majority of the total votes, a runoff was needed.

The same was true in the five-person race for the new Texas House District 12. Calvert rancher Tucker Anderson won 29.5 percent of the vote in May, with Brazos County rancher Kyle Kacal coming in second with 24 percent. The district includes mostly rural portions of Brazos County, eastern portions of McLennan County, and all of Robertson, Falls and Limestone Counties.

Each race is a Republican match-up. There is no Democrat running for Brazos County district attorney, meaning the Hilburn-Parsons winner is all-but-assured of becoming the next DA, replacing the retiring Bill Turner. Democrat Robert Stem of Waco awaits the winner of the District 12 GOP runoff.

Questions for the forum can be submitted in writing at the event, and in advance at questions@wtaw.com. If you e-mail a question, note which race you're asking a question for in the subject line.
