The new representative for most of Bryan/College Station in the Texas House will be decided December 13.

The Texas Secretary of State's office has set the date for the runoff election between Republicans Bob Yancy and John Raney, who were the top two vote-getters earlier this month in the five-person race for District 14's vacant seat.

Yancy brought in 36 percent of the votes, with Raney earning 28 percent. Since no one got a majority of the total votes, a runoff was needed between the top two.

Early voting will begin Monday, December 5 and run through December 9. On December 5-7, voting hours will be between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. On December 8 and 9, ballots can be cast between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Election Day hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The same early voting polling places will be used:

- Arena Hall
- Brazos County Administration Building
- College Station Utilities Meeting and Training Facility
- Galilee Baptist Church
- Rudder Tower

Tuesday afternoon, polling places for Election Day will be decided. Instead of 42 locations that were in place earlier this month, the runoff will only have 16.

A link to the county's election website is provided, where polling place information will be posted.

The District 14 seat was vacated by Fred Brown, who took a job outside the district and resigned his position. The winner of the runoff will be the incumbent for next year's general election.
