Campaigning is kicking into high gear for the two remaining finalists in the Republican race for District 12 State Representative.
News 3 spoke with Tucker Anderson and Kyle Kacal on their race for the nomination.
The Primaries got off to a late start this year due to redistricting but it's going to be a fight to the finish for two ranchers from the Brazos Valley.
Tucker Anderson of Calvert took 30 percent of the votes while Kyle Kacal of Brazos County took 24 percent.
"Republican voters here are concerned about the economic and moral decline of their country and they want their state representative to push back on that. We want to see more economic development," said Tucker Anderson, (R) District 12 State Representative Candidate.
"Water's a big issue. Our natural resources, transportation but number one is the youth of Texas and making sure they get a good education so they can continue to make this state the great state that it is," said Kyle Kacal, (R) District 12 State Representative Candidate.
This is Kacal's first campaign for office.
Anderson unsuccessfully ran to unseat Chet Edwards from the U.S. House in 2006.
"I think the voters saw a candidate I think they could get behind in 2006 but perhaps needed a little time to mature and get some more experience and I think I've had that time," said Anderson.
"This race came down to the wire and every vote counts and if we don't take anything from this race yesterday or the races across the state, we have to get out and vote," said Kacal.
The two candidates will face off again in the July 31st runoff.
The winner of the Republican nomination will face Democrat Robert Stem of Waco in the November General Election.
