Who is the man challenging Bill Flores for his District 17 seat in Congress?
George W. Hindman put in his application for the Republican primary at the deadline on Friday.
Among the very little we've been able to find out about him: he's an Austin resident who at one time had a political steering committee. He also once filed a lawsuit filed against a satellite radio company. That's the extent of what we can confirm.
The state Republican Party and Travis County's GOP office had no information about the candidate. News 3 also wasn't able to contact a person by that name with a number listed in the Austin area.
The newly-redrawn District 17 still covers Brazos County up toward Waco, but it now also snakes west through Burleson County and portions of Lee, Bastrop and Travis Counties.
Rep. Flores told News 3 Monday he looks forward to running a high quality campaign against his opponent.
The primaries are set for May 29.
No Democrat filed to run for District 17.
