The Blinn College Real Estate Legal Assistant programs will host a mediation real estate session July 16, 4 to 8:30 p.m., in the Barbara L. Pearson Banquet Room
Real Estate - 5:15 p.m.
Real Estate touches virtually every industry. This meeting will discuss the Blinn Real Estate program, which offers a college-accredited certificate in Real Estate and the chance to learn from a faculty of lawyers and real estate professionals. The Blinn certificate meets the education requirements needed to test for the Texas Real Estate Salesperson License and can be finished in as little as one semester. Current students can conveniently earn their real estate certificate, even as they continue work toward other degrees (some of which will count Real Estate classes). Students can choose to take classes online, in the classroom, or a combination.
Legal Assistant - 6:15 p.m.
The law touches everything. Students are prepared for a career as a Lawyer’s assistant, but knowledge of the Law is helpful in all professional fields. The program offers day, evening and an increasing number of online courses. This meeting will provide details about the Blinn College Legal degree. Faculty is composed entirely of lawyers and judges, and courses are offered in many areas of law, including Criminal Law, Litigation, Family Law, Personal Injury, Probate, Research, Writing and other legal classes necessary for work in the many jobs where the law plays a role. Students considering law school are likely to benefit from this program.
Mediation - 7 p.m.
Mediation is a traditional process to resolve disputes prior to going to a court trial but it goes beyond resolving lawsuits. Mediators take their skills to the job market to become better managers and employees, which help avoid lawsuits in the first place. The Blinn College mediation marketable skills award program provides the skills and experience necessary to serve as a mediator, along with the basic hours required by the State of Texas to become a professional mediator. The program also includes two legal classes, providing a basic legal background important for good mediators, given that so many disputes are legal-related.
