BRYAN Blinn College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is accepting registration for a pair of upcoming courses that will detail how to start a small business and manage the finances once that business is off the ground.
An entrepreneurial course, “Key Steps to Starting a Business,” will be offered from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 13 at the SBDC office, located at 108 Blinn Blvd. Instructor Stephen Maeker will break down the process, describing the research process and how different business plans, business models and financing methods can lead to success. The class is $20 per attendee.
For business owners wanting to organize their finances, a hands-on, basic QuickBooks workshop will be held from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Feb. 14 from at the Bullock Building, located at the corner of College Ave. and Prairie Lea St. Instructor Brooke Garcia will describe how business owners can use the accounting software to chart accounts, track customers and vendors, monitor accounts payable and receivable, budget, create financial reports and reconcile their bank and credit card accounts. The cost is $100 per person. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required.
