BRENHAM, WASHINGTON COUNTY Blinn College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting a two-hour franchising seminar designed to help small business owners determine whether franchising opportunities are right for them.
The seminar will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 15 at the SBDC, located at 108 Blinn Boulevard in Brenham.
In addition to providing a franchising overview, the seminar will cover:
· the pros and cons of franchising
· an actual franchise disclosure document
· tips for estimating income potential
· franchise fees
· how to find the right franchise
· the types of franchises
· financing options
The course will be taught by Stephen Maeker, a consultant with the franchise information company FranChoice. Maeker has more than two decades of domestic and international director-level experience with franchising leaders, including Mobil Oil, TGI Friday’s and Jack in the Box.

The SBDC at Blinn College is a business consulting and training center that is part of the University of Houston Small Business Development Center Network, which serves 32 counties in Southeast Texas. The center provides free one-on-one consulting and low-cost training seminars.
