When asked to post a high school graduation photo to Eye on YOU!, I immediately thought, "Oh, this will be fun."  So, I went to my mom's house to dig through old photos.  My mother has saved everything I've ever touched (only a slight exaggeration), so I knew finding graduation  photos would be pretty easy. 

I graduated from high school 21 years ago, so looking back at these photos was a real trip down memory lane.  I don't know if high school kids in recent years purchase such things as "Memory Books"... but I did.  And mine is overflowing with little scraps of paper, photographs, notes... basically a bunch of junk... but each little paper made me smile.  If you graduated more than 10 years ago and haven't gone through things you saved in a while, I'd encourage you to do so.  If you graduated at least 20 years ago, I'd REALLY encourage you to do so... the hairstyles alone are worth it.

So, as I'm looking for these graduation photos I remembered that they were actually re-takes, because the first batch of pictures was really bad.  Then, I found my "good" pictures.  My mother will probably kill me for saying this... but the "good" ones aren't so great.  I remember I really liked them at the time... thought they were keepers.  Now, and you can all back me up on this by going to Eye on YOU!, they're really nothing to write home about.  My hair was HUGE (not a perm, ladies, naturally curly, crazy 80s big hair... I actually straightened it out a bit to get it to look like that... YIKES!), my teeth were huge (still are), my eyebrows were huge (thanks to Brooke Shields for making that look popular), and my lipstick was pretty bright.  All in all, not a great look.  But, at the time... I thought I looked GOOD!

My point to all of this is... go find your old high school "stuff"... wherever it may be.  You'll get to see some familiar faces... wonder, "What ever happened to...?"... and find things that you can't remember why on earth you saved them in the first place.  

I'd like to know what you find.  What's that one thing you saved that you're not sure why you still have it?  For me, it's a paper towel with blotted lipstick all over it.  It's folded very neatly.  I used to keep it in my clarinet case and would carefully blot the lipstick each day when I got to band.  I remembered exactly what it was when I saw it... but WHY did I save it?  And, no, I'm not going to throw it away now.  It's survived this long, what's a few more years in a Memory Book?
