Once again, KBTX is stepping outside the studio and into your neighborhood. We headed to Brenham this week, and we were greeted with open arms. Thank you Brenham!
It's always nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the day, put breaking news aside and focus on YOU--the people we love to serve.
This year I had the chance to explore Washington County, and what a delight. I took a trip inside Blue Bell. Ice cream is my weakness, so I jumped at the chance to see how the Texas treat makes it from the factory to our freezers.
I actually got to make my own creamy creation, and you too can make it at home.
All you need is Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, chocolate peanut butter cups, white chocolate chunks, Oreos, and chocolate syrup. Sounds good, doesn't it?
Believe me as soon as the carton of ice cream made it through the doors at KBTX--it was gone. Blue Bell----this should be your newest flavor. It completely brings you back to your childhood.
Also, if you're looking for a "staycation" (that's my newest word thanks to my co-workers) you can go to Blue Bell yourself.
Tours are given Monday through Friday, six times a day, and a tour only costs--$3. The 40-minute tour consists of a six minute video about Blue Bell's history, a trip to the observation decks--where you can actually see how the ice cream is made--and then you get a scoop of Blue Bell ice cream for free. However, you need to come early. No reservations are taken, and 1,000 people go to Blue Bell every weekday.
You know, with rising gas prices, we are all looking for something budget friendly to do, close to home. If you want to go to Washington County, which I highly recommend, check out this website http://www.brenhamtexas.com/. It gives you information on everything you can do in Washington County.
You can also watch On the Road, Washington County on our website http://www.kbtx.com/ontheroad. There you can find stories on Blue Bell, the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, Horseshoe Junction, The Antique Rose Emporium, and so much more!
We will be going on the road every Thursday in July. Catch us next Thursday at the George Bush Presidential Library.
Thanks again Brenham! It was so much fun coming to your hometown!
