It's no secret that reporters love food. We eat any chance we can. We love free food more. When talking about the #AOroadtrip with Dallas Shipp, he mentioned the food. Repeatedly. He said this trip would have "some of the best food you'll ever eat."
He wasn't lying.
Thursday night we stopped in Memphis. Where you ask? GRACELAND! Granted, it was like 11:30 and pretty dark, but I saw the house and the planes. Elvis music wafts over the whole area, playing from some unseen speaker. It's magical. I taped my segment for the 10pm show in front of the Graceland sign. Took a few tries, but I finally got a take I was happy with.
Then, it was time for food.
We went to a place called Rendezvous. It's hidden in a side alley near Beale Street in Memphis. Dalls got "Governor" parking (read: right next to the front door. Like someone important. Like a governor.). The restaraunt is downstairs, in what seems like a basement. They're know for their ribs. The cop out front recommended the rib and brisket combo. That's what we ordered.
Two words: Un. Real.
I've had what I consider to be remarkable Bar-B-Que before. I've had nothing like this. Dry rub ribs. Brisket that melted in your mouth. It was borderline illegal how good it was. Maybe I was just tired and hungry. Maybe I was taken back by the wall art.
Either way, our table was quiet for a long time.
Definitely gets a strong recommendation from this reporter.
