As we toured Germany on our Rotary Group Study Exchange, you couldn't help but to get excited when you saw 1.67 posted as the price of gas.

Yes, gas prices are sky high right now with $4 a gallon gas now a reality in B/CS.  To fill up my Ford F150, which has a 27 gallon tank, costs just over $100.  But it could be worse, much worse!

As we toured Germany on our Rotary Group Study Exchange, you couldn't help but to get excited when you saw 1.67 posted as the price of gas.  That is until you realized that 1.67 only gets you a liter of gas and that there are 3.78 liters in a gallon.  That means a gallon of gas costs 6.38 Euros and when you convert that to dollars, Europeans are paying $9.05 per gallon of gas.

At that price, my 2006 F150 would cost $244.35 to fill up!  Hence the reason I only saw two trucks in Germany.  Yes, the cars are smaller in Europe and for good reason.  Gas mileage means everything over there.  When talking about vehicles, German's first question is how many liters does it take for your vehicle to go 100 kilometers?  It's the first thing on their minds when they purchase a vehicle.  At $9 a gallon, I can see why.
