Yes, Virginia, its still hot out there.  As I sit in the weather center typing, out of the corner of my eye I can still see an orange screen to my right letting us know that a Heat Advisory remains in effect across the a good portion of the Brazos Valley.  Now, I don't know if this is something to be proud of or not...but congratulations...the only heat advisories left in the entire United States is right here in our own back yard and in the City of Laredo.  (If we are going to be hot, we might as well get some credit for it, right?) 

Now, with the remnants of Tropical Depression #5 still making a snail-paced crawl out of Louisiana, we finally have a chance to keep daytime highs below 100° for a change over the next few days.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday and Thursday afternoon...with the better chance falling on Thursday.  A little more cloud cover...slightly better chance of the wet stuff falling from the sky...how about a high of only 97°! You may be thinking to yourself, "ONLY 97°, are you kidding me?" but after the past 12 of 17 afternoons topping off at or above 100°, and with more triple digits in the forecast by the weekend, beggars can't be choosers at this point.  Plus, we could use the rain.  College Station sits just about three and a half inches behind "normal" in rainfall for this time of the year.

Before I get out of here for the day, wanted to share with you a video you might have caught if you watched Brazos Valley This Morning today.  We always talk about how dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning can be...and this is a prime example.  Watch as this car gets struck by lightning from a summertime storm.  Word is the person in the car is fine, however, the electrical system is fried.  Video courtesy of WEWS-TV out of Cleveland, Iowa.
