Second verse same as the first...this time with a small remix.  I'm talking about more rain headed to the Brazos Valley Thursday and Friday...and this time, a few storms could show some teeth. 

Lets start with the Flash Flood potential:

After our almost 2"-4" rainfall that we received on Monday, there's only been a small window to get the drying process underway...and that is quickly coming to an end.  Moisture is riding in on southeast winds this afternoon, and that means the potential for heavy rain is building.  To add insult to injury for our friends in Robertson and Leon Counties, both the Navasota and Trinity Rivers are above their banks, with the Trinity expected to rise at least another foot or two over the next few days.  So...needless to say, its not going to take much to find water over roads and localized flash flooding over the next few days.  Take caution...and don't forget the old saying "Turn around, Don't Drown."

Now on to the severe potential:

Our chance for rain is increasing because of an incoming cold front and upper-level storm system.  What does that mean?  Well basically, Thursday as the front slides by, there is a good chance a squall line of thunderstorms will develop ahead of it...courtesy of the "battle of the airmasses" between the cool, dry air behind it crashing into this warm, humid air we have building in today.  The Storm Prediction Center has put pretty much all of East Texas under a slight risk (the area in green) for severe weather Thursday.  Usually with squall lines, strong, damaging winds are the main threat, however its not out of the question that a few storms could bring moderate sized hail and the outside chance of an isolated tornado.

I would say heavy rain leading to localized flash flooding is a high possibility, the hail and wind have a moderate chance, and on the extreme end there is a slight chance for an isolated tornado.  Either way, keep it right here on KBTX.com and News 3 for the latest as we track our next weather maker.

Let's end this post on an upside, though.  Once the front pushes through, it looks like we clear out by Saturday afternoon with highs in the low 70s and great weather to head to Kyle Field for some Fightin' Texas Aggie Football...and more importantly great weather for all the kiddos to get out an trick-or-treat in!
