Thanksgiving Travel Weather

Updated: Tue 12:17 PM, Mar 09, 2010

As Tom the Turkey sweats it out this day before Thanksgiving, many of us are off to different corners of the country, heading to Granny's house on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

Mother Nature, however, not making it easy for some folks to get to their destinations today.  Here is the breakdown:

--The low pressure system associated with our cold front yesterday, continues to spread it's holiday gray and rain to the Great Lakes and on into the New England states.

--The Sunshine State not living up to its name today, as thunderstorms are expected on and off through the day.

--A new system is beginning to come on land in the Pacific Northwest, bringing a few rain showers with it, slowing things down a bit.

Here at home...well, we are really only worrying about cooking that bird!  High pressure has set up shop, meaning sunny and mild afternoons followed by cold, clear nights.

If you are jet setting out of here the next few days, you can check the latest airport delays at the FAA's website here:

Happy Thanksgiving!
